BATON ROUGE (WBRZ) - Police said they're looking for the people responsible for shooting and killing a man behind a Baton Rouge business today.
Cpl. L'Jean McKneely said police were in the area of 2150 N. Sherwood Forest when they heard gunshots, and found the 25-year-old male victim in an alley. He died at the scene.
Family and friends told News 2, the victim was Brandon Carter, 25.
"We don't know what would've happened that would've caused this, but Brandon was not a person that was violent, we don't know what would've been involved in this shooting," said Sharon Myles, Carter's cousin.
Police and sheriff's deputies with assault rifles and a helicopter were seen searching the area around the crime scene around 11:30 a.m. after they heard the shots.
"This wasn't called in by BRPD dispatch, officers heard the shots, responded and found the body, because of that, because of our current proactive work we are out currently looking for suspects," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs with BRPD.
McKneely said investigators have no motive for the shooting at this time, and asked anyone with information about the shooting contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869.
