Judge directs EBRSO to get LSU applicant list

BATON ROUGE (WBRZ) - A Baton Rouge judge today said she would direct the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office to enforce her order requiring LSU's Board of Supervisors to turn over a list of applicants for the university president's position.

Judge Janice Clark said today LSU would not follow her order, and the sheriff's office would issue warrants to anyone who participated in withholding the documents requested in a public records lawsuit filed by newspapers The Advocate and The Times-Picayune.

"Sheriff Sid Gautreaux will comply with this order," Clark said today. "The Board of Supervisors has continued to maintain and refuse... the public has a right to know."

LSU's attorney earlier argued they are appealing the case, and should not be required to comply with the judge's order until that appeal is heard.

LSU initially said the only applicant from the search they were required to release information on was Dr. F. King Alexander, who was chosen from a field of 35 semifinalists. Judge Clark ruled they were required to release all the names, and held them in contempt of court earlier this year after they continued to refuse. The university faces a mounting $500 per day fine until they turn over the documents.http://www.wbrz.com/news/judge-directs-ebrso-to-get-lsu-applicant-list/
